The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a student organization which
recognizes and encourages academic achievement, character, service, leadership,
and citizenship. Induction of new members occurs during the spring semester. To
be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a member of the seventh or
eighth grade and must have been in attendance one semester.
|
 |
|
Candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average of at least 90 percent.
The average will be based upon the fall semester of the current school year, and
the 15 grades earned for their English, reading, math, science, and social
studies courses will receive equal weight in average. Candidates must have all
“E’s” and “S’s” for each grade reporting period with no “P’s” or “U’s”, thereby
demonstrating the appropriate attitude of participation and respect in their
daily citizenship. To obtain information regarding service, leadership, and
character, candidates are surveyed via a response form. The review of
information does not guarantee selection and the chapter is not obligated to
share information concerning specific students not selected for membership. A
NJHS member who is placed in SAC or suspended from school will be removed
permanently from the organization immediately after the discipline consequence
is given.
